Dr. Uba is the Senior Manager of Material Sciences, Sustainable Products and Innovation Excellence at Arconic Corporation. In this role, he leads a team of scientists and engineers that apply technoeconomic and life-cycle assessment methodologies to evaluate cost-efficient, viable and environmentally-friendly sustainable technologies to improve energy efficiency and lower our company’s greenhouse gas emissions. He is also responsible for managing the company’s portfolio of projects and establishing partnership across the value chain to design next generation materials for applications in our Aerospace, Automotive, Packaging, and Commercial Transportation markets.

Dr. Uba has almost two decades of combined technical and leadership experience working on a variety of high value projects and managing cross-functional teams in Fortune 500 companies. He is a proven strategic thinker and thought leader with exceptional ability to assimilate vast amount of information from different sources/fields, uncover new insights that inspire innovation, and develop actionable business strategy. His passion includes leading data-informed and market-focused sustainable innovation for solving real-world problems. He possesses proven business acumen including applied knowledge of corporate/business strategy, Finance, organization management, portfolio management, market/competitor assessment, go-to market strategies and technology commercialization. All these skills he has leveraged to creating real business value in all roles held.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Uba has developed extensive technical experience in a variety of fields including Material Science, Micro- & Nanoengineering, Sustainability, Energy Management, Corrosion & Surface Science, Heterogeneous Catalysis, Process Technology, Petroleum Chemistry, Renewable fuels, and Forensic Science. He has deep expertise in data analytics tools and platforms and has facilitated the implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems for process automation, remote monitoring, predictive model development, library searching, computer vision, quality management, and chemometrics/ cheminformatics. These products have enabled revenue from new products and mitigated significant lost profit opportunities in operations.

Dr. Uba holds several advisory roles including appointed member of the Sustainability Advisory Council of the Aluminum Association and is frequently invited to speak at the Congressional Caucus meetings at the United States Capitol as part of regulatory and policy advocacy. He also partners to secure government funding opportunities that align with our strategic goals and technology roadmaps. Key previous roles held include, Director Analytical Research and Commercialization at Phillips 66 and Visiting Researcher at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea. He is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, an inventor on 10 US Patents and author on more than 20 scientific publications.

Dr. Uba has a BSc. In Industrial Chemistry, First Class Honors, from University of Ibadan, MSc. in Chemistry, Distinction, from Louisiana State University, PhD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA from Oklahoma State University. He also has a Certificate in Business Strategy from Harvard Business School Online and is a Certified Scrum Master.
